Lyskamm, 4527m, Crossing

Liskamm ( 4527m) , east west crossing, Valais, Italy Switzerland

The Lyskamm is a mountain located on the border between Italy and Switzerland, between Gressoney and Zermatt. It in fact two peaks, Lyskamm west and Lyskemm east, making a powerful ice and snow ridge.

The Lyskamm crossing can be done in both direction, east-west or west-east. The first option is the best. It is a snow ascent, technically easy but long, asking a very altitude acclimatization.

The starting point is Citta di Mantova hut ( 3440m ), from the cable car of Gressoney Staffal.

It asks 6 to 8 h from Mantova hut to Quintino Sella hut ( 3585m ). And 3h00 more to go to Bettaforca pass ( 2672m ) and Gressoney by cable car.
